We are happy to report that Sarah is free of cancer and continues to be restored daily. Early on in our diagnosis phase, God put this scripture on our hearts:
‘...This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.’ John 11:4
We grabbed hold of that promise and hold on to it still. Through one of the hardest seasons in our lives, we saw God’s glory. We saw so much good and now bear testimony of His faithfulness, miracles, love. We witnessed so much good.
As we fought this and other battles, we have been privileged to catch sweet glimpses of how the early church must have operated, sacrificially giving and bearing one another’s burdens. Alone, we could not have carried such a heavy burden. But God moved on so many of you to love and support us, to help us carry this burden; so much so, that my son once said to me, “Mom, I know you have cancer, but it’s almost like you don’t.” He was so well cared for. We all were.
It was beautiful to see God move. We are extremely grateful for your love and support. Because of the abundance of help, we were able to focus on Sarah and the important things. It has been an amazing journey and we are thankful for each of you. God truly used you to help carry a burden that was way too heavy for us to carry alone. We were never made to walk this life by ourselves.
We find our hearts hungry for more of this, to see believers revert back to living as the early church lived, with hands open and giving, in community. Our heart’s desire is that we will model it, that it would be contagious and spread and that His people would fully yield to Him and His ways and serve one another in love.
2 Corinthians 8: 1…we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. 2 In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. 3 For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own.4 they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people
As God gives us opportunity to continue in this way of living, one day at a time, doing the good he gives us to do by his strength – we would love for you to come along side us in this. May He give all of us eyes to see, ears to hear and may we not grow tired in doing good. It does not matter how rich or poor you are, how talented or skilled you are or are not. Often, it is actually through our weaknesses that He is glorified the most, not by our own strength or skill, but by His strength. He can and will use you IF you are willing.
For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have. Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. 2 Corinthians 8:12
