Meals for Sarah

April 28, 2014 By denman Leave a Comment

Hello friends of Sarah! She is so grateful for all of your love, prayers, and support in overwhelming ways.

If you haven’t had a chance yet to check out her Care Calendar, we’d appreciate it if you’d consider bringing a meal for the Denman’s as they walk through this journey with chemo treatments. They are just needing meals for James and the kids. Her friends are taking care of grocery runs and special meals for Sarah – so gift cards to HEB or Whole Foods would be most appreciated as well.

Click here for the Care Calendar. The Pass Code 9980.

Perhaps this is something you could commit to once every other week or even once a month.

Our Recipe Page has a few links with great links for suggestions for healthy meals.

Baby Bennett

April 28, 2014 By Sarah Denman Leave a Comment

We just received news that baby Bennett, who we recently asked you to pray for passed away on Sunday.

This news has hit James and I hard. I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around this news. If you’ve visited his site, you can see his precious smile, so full of life. I’ve been following their story for a while now, they’re best friends with one of our family friends.

To lose a child, my heart cannot reconcile with the grief, the emptiness.

My prayer is that God will wrap them in complete peace and love.

Please pray for them as The Lord leads.

Advice, Nutrition and Supplements

April 27, 2014 By Sarah Denman 1 Comment

So many of you have given us words of knowledge and shared your experience with us. We are grateful for all the information that has been shared with us. We are learning so much! I think as a result our family will be healthier for this experience. I am so tickled when I hear stories of friends who are becoming more health conscience and acting on it because of our experience. It truly makes my heart glad to know others are working on improving their lives through nutrition.

I wanted to share a little about what I am doing differently for those of you who are interested.

Because of the help of friends I have been able to eat organic vegetables (mostly green), eggs and chicken. I am also taking many supplements. We are working with a nature path and a nurse friend who helped us determine a plan for this time to help my body stay well and hopefully withstand against some of the effects of chemo.

We have seen a huge difference in my body. I have responded very well to this plan, I am feeling stronger, resting better and not crashing like I have in the past. I don’t feel hopeless about my energy levels but have hope that I can be healthy and well. My skin is better, my teeth have even seemed better!

Some of these changes have not been the easiest, some have been challenging. My “green mud” drink is packed with vitamins and good things but I can assure you it has not been the easiest drink to gulp down. However, my taste buds are coming to accept it and it is not as bad as I first thought it to be!Continue Reading

The Lord Provides

April 26, 2014 By James Denman Leave a Comment

Tuesday we met with a very generous and kind couple in South Austin. The meeting is actually quite amazing since we do not know them. They have plans that will take them away from their house for the summer (she’s opening a healthy restaurant in California). As they were trying to decide what to do with their house over the summer, she saw a post with our information on it. After reading about us and our situation, she contacted us to see if we would like to stay in their house from the end of May through August. It is such an impressive testimony of their generous hearts.

We were overwhelmed with how perfect the house will fit our needs. It exceeds our expectations. One of our concerns getting into a house was upkeep. Since the owners were already prepared to have their yard and pool taken care of for the summer we will not have to worry with those responsibilities. This will be a huge blessing, it will free us up, not to have to worry about extra chores while going through treatment. So helpful since we really do not how much we will be able to keep up with during this battle. It is such a gift to know that James will be free to be with me as needed without the extra pressure to do. We can just be.

Their house has a green belt with trails for the kids to explore. They also have a deep pool to relax and play in. How perfect is that? (we found out after that friends were actually praying for a pool for us!) Sarah won’t be able to be in the sun a lot but the kids will have access to a pool all summer! There’s even a hot tub which may prove relaxing in the evening after treatment begins.

We really enjoyed meeting them. They offered great health advice, both of them have a background in alternative type medicine. They were so encouraging to us and several things they said confirmed the direction we are taking. We have had numerous confirmations. It should not amaze us, but it does.

We so appreciate all of your prayers and love. We are so grateful that God has blessed us with all of you who are praying and caring for us. We are so amazed and are learning so much about how God loves.

We Survived

April 25, 2014 By Sarah Denman Leave a Comment

We survived our first day of chemo.

It was a very long day, we arrive at 845 and left after 5. We shut the place down! In fact our nurse stayed with us instead of handing us off to another nurse even though her shift was over. She wanted to see us through. She was super sweet, we felt blessed to have her. She was a believer and spoke encouraging words to us all day. She is also health conscience and offered some good advice along those lines. We hope we will have her in the future.

Prayers were felt all day, we remained at peace. Turmoil just couldn’t take root. In fact the only tears that were shed were when we opened and read some sweet notes given to us. It was the highlight of our day. 🙂

We were grieved as we read the story of our friend’s friend’s son’s battle with cancer. He is not doing well. His name is Bennett, he is precious. You can visit his website here if you’d like to read his story. I know they would appreciate prayers on his behalf.

Other than being really tired and my back being sore from compensating from the port install,  I feel fine. I am grateful.

We came home to a delicious dinner. A friend made us an all organic meal with salmon!! I am not a fish eater, but because of the benefits of the fish I decided I would do my best to eat it. It was actually tasty and very nice to have this really extravagant meal. Everyone enjoyed it! It was all very healthy!! It was a nice way to return home.

We watched an episode of “I Love Lucy” with the kids before heading to bed. As the night wore on, I grew more tired, but so far no other hard symptoms.

We will return to the doctor’s office for a booster shot Friday afternoon.

Thank you again for all the support. We are very grateful.

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.
